What is Energy Star?

• Energy Star is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency. Products that can earn the Energy Star include appliances, lighting, home office equipment, consumer electronics, and heating and cooling equipment. What should homes include that have earned the Energy Star?

• Increased insulation - this helps achieve even temperatures throughout the house while using less energy.
• High-performance windows - to keep heat in during the winter and out during the summer. They also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furniture.
• Tight construction - this helps to eliminate drafts, moisture, dust, pests and pollen, which will improve the quality of indoor air, while lowering maintenance costs. 
• Energy-efficient heating and cooling equipment - more efficient and properly installed heating and cooling systems use less energy, which reduces utility bills. These systems turn on and off less frequently, removing more humidity and providing better comfort.

Joshua Homes was the host to Al Gore, Environmental Activist at their Creekstone community in Blacklick, Ohio.
